Why I Built This Tool:

Often times I am asked the question "Which is the best elementary school if I have $X to spend on a house?" I created this dashboard to inform parents and home buyers to find schools that are the highest performing in every price range. The ranking systems is something that I calculated that ranks schools based on the percentage of students that are proficient in both Mathematics and English Language Arts. School performance data is from the California Department of Education (2013) and median home prices are from Zillow.

There Are Great Schools in Affordable Neighborhoods in Los Angeles, California The chart above shows how elementary schools rank in each median home price range. As expected, as home price increases so does the performance of the school. There are however schools in each home price range that perform just as well as schools in expensive neighborhoods.
